I am Professor at SUISS, Strategic Studies Department (University of Turin) and Comando per la Formazione e Scuola di Applicazione dell’Esercito where I teach 4 courses:
-Strategic Studies (MA, course in English);
-Security Studies (MA);
-International Relations (MA, course in English);
-Strategic Studies (BA).
I have been a Researcher at Irad, Institute for Defence Research and Analysis (Rome) and I am also the director of OISMed (Osservatorio della Fondazione ICSA per le Sicurezza nel Mediterraneo). After my Ph.D. in Strategic Studies, I have been Researcher at CeMiSS (Center for Strategic Studies, Italian Armed Forces, Rome); DAAD Research Fellow at Freie University (Berlin), Research Fellow at College of Europe (Warsaw) and at Università del Piemonte Orientale (Vercelli).
I am an articulate researcher in the area of security/strategic studies focused on MENA region (mainly on Iraq, Syria, Libya), with a track record of publications and collaborations that demonstrates knowledge spanning across all areas of own subject area.
My research focuses on irregular warfare both from a theoretical and empirical point of view aiming at highlight the evolution of non-state armed violence from 19th century to today jihadist strategic thinking and illustrate the phenomenon of the conflicts in the Mediterranean region and their collusion with insurgency, urban environments and terrorism.
Capable lecturer with the ability to design engaging lecture plans, develop and manage curriculum activities. I have also analysis skills, and a tested multidisciplinary research methodology, that enables me to recommend conflict management solutions.
