I am thrilled to share with you my last publication on Small Wars and Insurgencies titled: “Urban warfare in the Middle East: the battle of Mosul and the operations in Syria“.
The paper focuses on two recent urban operations in the Middle East, i.e. Mosul and Syria, with the goal to emphasize the centrality of the concept of battle and attrition in modern warfare and to extrapolate some lessons learned in order to identify both elements of continuity and novelty in modern urban contexts that can also apply to different theaters of operation like Gaza Strip and Ukraine.
